When Jesus spoke to the disciples in Galilee (Matthew 28: 19-20), then in Jerusalem (Acts 1:8) commanding them to go and make disciples of all nations and to be his witnesses, he spoke to them as a group. The task of sharing of the Good News, of the Gospel, is not only on individuals but on the group, on the church. MISSION WORLD believes that the church is the sending body. With the blessing, support and commissioning of the wider body of Christ, individuals go out to their Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Sent and supported together, the church's worldview and its understanding of mission at home and beyond is strengthened.
As followers of Jesus, mission is not an option but how it plays out for each of us as individuals, is. As a group or church, MISSION WORLD's challenge to you is to identify what your mission DNA is, how and where does 'mission' fit with your vision, what are you prepared to do to encourage mission as a group and/or for individuals.
